CAKE rule
Simple vowels letters followed by a single consonant letter + vowel letter (mute and final) is pronounced with a tense value
EXEPT IF IT IS A < r >
Ex : face, price, goose
The OLD transformation rule
< O > finished by LD, LK, LL is pronounced with a tense value (exept for doll)

ASK words
A group of words in which the a is pronounced with the START and not the STRAP sound : /a/ followed by voiceless fricatives :
