Tone units
Tone units follow breathing patterns made of poses which are more less. This pauses unable the speaker to breath and talk at the same time but they also give meaning and life to the words that are pronounced. It is a mandatory dimension for the hearer to properly hear and listen to the message that the speaker wishes to convey.
The nucleus
It is the prominent syllable, also called the sentence stress. This syllable is called the nucleus. Each tone unit has one and only one nucleus.There would never be a tone unit without nucleus or with two nuclei. A nucleus is always one syllable.Most of time the nuclei are movable depending on which items the speaker wants to emphasize.
Connected speech
Series of utterances or sentences(written speech).
Oral connected speech
Process of intonation which is made of several possible patterns.
Intonation
Intonation, in phonetics is the melodic pattern of an utterance.Intonation is significant, the same utterance may be said in a downright, or a reserved , or a questioning tone of voice. Intonation have two simple tones ; a rising tone and a falling tone. Rising tone will be used for questions o to express a mood. Falling tone will often be used for statements, final remarks.

The Head? is not mandatory. It is the part of the Tone unit(TU) that extend from the first stressed syllable up to, but not including the nucleus.

Pre Head? is made of al the unstressed syllables in the TU preceding the first stressed syllable.

Tail? All the syllables stressed or unstressed found after the nucleus.
