• Big Brother: Symbol of the Party, of totalitarian power, of constant surveillance and manipulation of the masses. Present everywhere in Oceania’s society.
• Winston Smith: Employee of the Ministry of Truth, responsible for rewriting history according to the Party’s directives. Unhappy and lonely, he rebels by writing a diary.
• Julia: Winston’s companion, whom he meets at the Ministry of Truth. Young, dynamic and sensual, she shares with Winston her aversion to the Party.
• O’Brien: An important member of the Inner Party, working at the Ministry of Love. Intelligent, cultured and refined, he attracts Winston’s attention with his gaze and ambiguous words.

“1984” is a novel set in a world where freedom does not exist. The protagonist, Winston Smith, is an employee of the Party. The Party controls everything through cameras and screens called Big Brother. They also falsify truth and history. Winston feels suffocated by the dictatorship and dreams of escaping. He starts writing a diary and looks for allies to resist Big Brother. He meets Julia and they try to join the Brotherhood, a secret group fighting against the Party.
