Présentation : "Alright" - Kendrick Lamar

1/ Introduction I am going to present the song "Alright" by the American rapper Kendrick Lamar. It was released in 2015 in the album To Pimp a Butterfly. The genre is Hip-hop with some Jazz influences.

2/ Why I chose this song I chose this song because it is very famous and powerful. It is not just music to dance to; it has a very deep meaning. I think it is interesting to see how a rap song can become a symbol of hope for millions of people.

3/ Why it is a protest song "Alright" is a protest song because it denounces police brutality and racism in the United States.

• It criticizes the injustices suffered by the Black community.
• It was used as an anthem (un hymne) during the Black Lives Matter protests.
• The song aims to raise awareness about social inequality and the need for change.

4/ Lyrics The most important lyrics are in the chorus:

"We gon' be alright / Do you hear me, do you feel me? We gon' be alright."

These lyrics are a message of resilience. Even if the situation is difficult and there is violence, the artist says that the community will survive and stay strong.

5/ My opinion In my opinion, this song is a very effective tool. It is catchy, so people remember it easily, but the message is serious. It brings people together during difficult times. For me, it is one of the best examples of a modern protest song.
