Linguistique

Shakespeare's nickname was the Bard.

His famous theatre was called the Globe and it has an open roof. The cheaper the seats, the higher the chance of getting wet/soaked (Moins les places sont chères, plus les chances sont grandes qu'il vous pleuve dessus). The theatre was destroyed in a fire and it was rebuilt (=reconstruit).

The Tragedy of Macbeth

Once upon a time, there was a Scottish general who had won the decisive battle for his king (Duncan). He was riding home from the war whent suddendly, he and his friend Banquo met three mysterious witches who predicted two things :

1) Macbeth WOULD be rewoarded with more money, land and power.

2) Macbeth WOULD become the future king.

Of course, Macbeth was confused !

Lady Macbeth Plan :

1st step : Persuading Macbeth = he is too loyal (relaxed)

2nd step : Inviting the King over = trustworthy

3rd step : Making the guards drunk = so that they can't protet King Duncan

4th step : Killing King Duncan WHILE the guards are hung over = stab

5th step : Sabbing the guards and blaming them for the murder

Good Plan ?

  • People will probably believe. Macbeth = "he WOULD never dare !"
  • Howewer Duncan's death is extremely = suspecious/fishy

The tragedy of Macbeth :

Malcolm escaped to England to lie low and stay safe because he was frightened.

Meanwhile (=in the meantime), Macbeth is crowned King while his wife is crowned Queen.

Macbeth hires murderers to kill his best friend (Banquo) and his family = he betrays him !

Macbeth feels remorse (he can see Banquo's ghost) while Lady Macbeth feels guilt (she can see blood on her hand = she thinks she will be caught red-handed = will her hand in the cookie jar).

Everyone dies except Malcolm who takes revenge (=who avenges his father) Malcolm is the heir.
